IEYC News Letter 2/2012

Dear All,

We are well into February 2012. The children are all very excited about Fasching and this is a busy time for us early years practitioners. IEYC would like to share the following information with you and your team:

Webinar: We had our first webinar (online seminar) workshop and the response was excellent. The web conference based on “Learning through play” was well received. This webinar was scheduled to last for one hour but lasted for 2 hrs. This seminar was especially useful for parents, as it identified areas where parents can support their children in their home environment. Visit to find out about future webinars.

PYP in early Years: The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.

Is this a new trend or an International standard? So if you happened to have hands on experience regarding PYP, please send us the details and we will publish it in the next news letter.

IEYC updates the website: We have updated the IEYC website and it now includes a new WEBLINKS section where there are links for resources etc. If you have any interesting Weblinks please send them to us. We are also including links to Kindergartens, playgroups in this section. If you wish your organisation to be included send us the details. Visit IEYC weblinks and give us your feed back. This will be much appreciated.

English4kinds & Bilingual Playgroup: IEYC has been commissioned to open English4kids & Bilingual classes in Poing, near Munich. This meant finding premises, getting approval from the authorities, setting up a website, advertising etc. This has been accomplished and these classes will start on the 5th March 2012. More details can be found at

Challenges of being Multilingual: This article is about experience and challenges faced by parents trying to bring up children in a multilingual environment. A worthwhile read and can be found on the front page. Next months article “ How to make a Treasure Basket + Heuristic Play Part1”.

Web upgrade, developing & hosting: Spring clean and refresh your website, IEYC offers this service for educational websites.
